Never been to a Kmart. It’s just not on my radar. So when Izea contacted me and said that Kmart would like to give me a $500 gift card I wasn’t sure what to expect. Sure I’ve heard of them and seen stores around, anyway I didn’t know what to expect. Turns out Kmart has all kinds of stuff for a web video geek such as myself. The first thing I did was go to Kmart.com and look at cameras. Sure enough they had the Kodak zi6 HD camera that has garnered my interest of late. $200 out the door delivered. Now I had to tell my new wife that I had spent 2 bills on like my 25th camera. I did and she was reasonably cool about it. Here’s what happened next.

I also have also been hooked up with another $500 Kmart gift card to give away to my readers. I love this just in time for the Holidays. Kmart and Izea get social media I think. They’ve engaged some cool people with a cool vibe. Yes my gift card was cool, but being able to share that vibe with a lucky reader because of Kmart is especially cool.

Fun video, btw. I haven’t been to K-Mart since 1988 or something, which adds to the fun for me.

I got lost in K-Mart when I was like 6, wandered too far into the Hot Wheels section (they had an entire row back then)…ended up with a face full of tears, sitting with the Customer Service lady while they announced “We have found a missing child, please claim your red-headed kid at the Service Desk, Mr. Johnston.”

I don’t blame the massive layout of K-Mart, I blame Mattel. Pretty sure I went home with an entire set of Corvettes that day.

MY STUDENTS!
My school is urban and the children are so appreciative of everything! Over the holidays I downloaded the free Holiday mp3s from Oprah’s website. They are so excited that I told them we would burn their own CD …to KEEP! I would use the $500 to give them Kmart item #018W209550110001 USB drives to store their work. That would help them build a portfolio of their own work. Sounds like a gift that would continue to grow!

I agree, KMart DEFINITELY wants you to buy a puppet. You’re going to have to go back. I saw Shoemoney’s shopping spree, too. While there are probably some great Christmas gifts for my family (like that HD camera), I’d probably use the card to buy items for gift baskets for the troops. I thought that was a pretty good idea. After Kmart’s fallout and near death, half wrote them off, but then post-Sears, they got better, their only failing is the lackluster clothing departments; Target wins all there, going more fashion-house yet reasonable. The greenish advertising make-over, dunno, no use fighting the red K, and should make better use of the blue light, imho. Still overall, like them actually better than before, though quite miffed that they ran outta stock for the refurbbed 4040 Maestro 5 hour sale, they had like 1 for whole store, supposedly. But play the sales, and time yourself right, Kmart always seems a winner, before it seemed like they weren’t even trying, Walmart shell-shocked as they were.

With $500, I’d have a cart full of items, but for big tickets, going electronic splash city, #1210000100071820 - Garmin 4.3 GPS 255 or similar and # 018W929092640001 - iPod 32 gig Touch touchy-me.

1) I just promised a Twitter friend who has never had a love letter that I’d interview her with my new cam if I won. This could help her love life which in turn would make the whole world a happier place.

2) I have a “poor me” story attached to camcorders. I bought one once and it only worked a few times…I was gypped big time. Now I actually make movies using the video option on my digital camera, that’s just sad, sad, sad. I’m not kidding–look at my movies–my winning could inspire greatness (all I need is a JVC HD Cam for greatness apparently).
